Chili oil is one of the best condiments out there. It adds incredible flavors with a kick of heat. Many different types chilies can be use make a good oil. But when you want to add some Caribbean flavors scotch bonnets are the way to go. Scotch bonnet peppers are used all through out the Caribbean. They add a distinct fruity flavor but also provide a lot of heat. It’s one of the hottest chilies out there but when used right they create a great balance. This chili oil goes well in sauces. On different meats, seafood, or anytime you just want to add heat to a dish.
Dried scotch bonnet chilies can be found at many Caribbean markets. They’re also sold on Amazon.
Ingredients:
1 cup extra light olive oil
2 tablespoons scotch bonnet chili flakes
Small mason jar or glass bottle.
Pour chili flakes into a small jar sanitized jar. Add olive oil. Stir with spoon. Seal jar tightly. Store in cupboard or pantry for 3-4 weeks before using to enhance flavors.
