A staple of every jewish deli. Whitefish is delightful treat all year around but it’s especially good during this time of year. Which is why this dip is the perfect appetizer while celebrating the holidays. The smokiness of the whitefish blends with the cream cheese and fresh dill like a matched made in heaven.
Ingredients:
2 cups smoked whitefish, bones and skin removed
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup cream cheese
1 1/2 tablespoon fresh dill
1 tablespoon capers
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 tablespoon shallots, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
4 oz salmon roe
1 teaspoon chive, finely chopped
Potato chips
Directions:
Add whitefish to a medium size bowl. Using gloves pick through fish to make sure all the bones and skin have been removed. Shred fish into small pieces. Set aside.
In a small bowl combine mayonnaise, cream cheese, dill, capers, lemon juice, shallots and black pepper. Fold mayo mixture into bowl with whitefish. Add salt. Cover bowl and refrigerate until salad has chilled.
Transfer salad to serving dish. Top with salmon roe and chives. Serve with kettle style potato chips.
