One of my favorite things to do during summer is a crab boils. The smell of fresh crabs and old bay seasoning in the air instantly brings back memories. But let’s be real those boil can get really messy. And who what’s to spend all night cleaning up discarded crab shell and soggy newspaper. Well this recipe gives you all the crab flavor you love so much without the clean up. It’s soft shell crab season and bbq season so let’s combine the two.
Old Bay Butter:
1 stick unsalted butter
1 1/2 tablespoons old bay seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne powder
1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Crabs:
1 dozen soft shell crab, cleaned
1 tablespoon chive, finely chopped
Olive oil
Old bay butter directions:
In a small bowl combine ingredients in small bowl. Set aside.
Crab directions:
Preheat one side of grill to medium high heat. Brush crab with olive oil. Cook crabs for 5 minutes on each side. Move crabs to cooler side of grill brush both sides with Old Bay butter. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from grill and serve immediately.
